Awarded annually to the best history student at Plaxtol Primary School in memory of our former Chairman, Rosemary Foster

Rosemary Foster was an outstanding Chairman of Plaxtol Local History Group from 1999 to 2013.

The Group flourished under her inspiring leadership, producing most of the extensive list of local history booklets and CDs that have left it in such good stead today. Amazingly, despite being diagnosed with cancer, she carried on as Chairman for some years, with all the same energy, dedication, charm and good humour as before. Even after stepping down as Chairman, Rosemary continued to make an enormous contribution as a Committee member, not least to our very successful Plaxtol at War exhibition and booklet.

Among her many other accomplishments, Rosemary was a keen golfer, an expert plantsman, an energetic gardener and a talented artist. She is very much missed by us all.

In 2015, we decided to establish a prize in Rosemary's memory. It is awarded annually to the best history student at Plaxtol Primary School, as selected by the school. The winner's name is engraved on a trophy donated by Plaxtol Local History Group and the winner receives a medal chosen by the school. Plaxtol Local History Group makes a donation to school funds towards the cost of the engraving and the winner's medal.

Many congratulations to all the prizewinners.
